A circuit breaker timing test is the process of measuring mechanical operating timing to verify and validate the correct functioning of the circuit breaker. MCBT-P, Motwane’s Circuit Breaker Timer kit is designed to measure close, open & close-open circuits with bounce timing measurement of the circuit breakers up to 220kV ratings and has a facility to do 3/4 pole measurement simultaneously.

MCBT-P, Motwane’s Circuit Breaker Timer kit is designed to measure close, open & close-open circuits with bounce timing measurement of the circuit breakers up to 220kV ratings and has a facility to do 3/4 pole measurement simultaneously. The advantages of the meters are easy operation, a user-friendly interface for communication, and easy readout of the measurement results. MCBT-P is provided with a USB interface for data transfer & report generation along with a storage memory of 100 results, inbuilt printer facility for onsite report printing. The MCBT-P is battery operated, lightweight, rugged & portable for field operations.
Other variants of the Model MCBT-X Circuit Breaker timer tester are available with similar features except for memory, USB, and battery functions.
Application
Circuit breakers constitute an important and critical component in the electric power system. Circuit breakers are periodically tested because of their key role in the functioning of an electrical system. One of the most successful test methods is the timing test, which consists of measuring the mechanical operational time of the breaker’s contacts. The timing test is one of the important tests to prevent damages to the circuit breaker. Incorrect operations of the circuit breakers can have disastrous consequences on the equipment or the substation personnel.
Timing test helps to determine the nature of the problems that affect circuit breaker performance even before disassembling the apparatus
